Do The Transpennine Real Ale Trail..

As seen on Oz and James Drink to Britain, the ale trail is a popular way to spend an afternoon with friends! Travel conveniently by train to some of the finest pubs West Yorkshire (and beyond) has to offer!

Start at The West Riding at Dewsbury station, we’re open from 12 on a Monday, 11 from Tuesday – Fri and 10am on a Saturday. If you’re doing the trail on a Saturday, why not start your day the right way with our famous Ale Day breakfast. At the West 9 real ales await you served to the highest standards by our award winning team.

After Dewsbury, 9 minutes onto Huddersfield where the train station holds not one, but two real ale pubs as well as our sister pub The Sportsman which is just a 3 or 4 minute walk left out of the Huddersfield Train Station and under the viaduct.

Then from Huddersfield you can venture on to Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield & Mossley where there is a real ale pub within walking distance of all stations before arriving at Stalybridge.

This is where you will find another Beerhouses pub in the famous Stalybridge Buffet Bar with its original Victorian buffet bar features, original marble topped bar and train memorabilia as well as a 8 great real ales. Here you can soak up the history, enjoy some fine food and contemplate making the return journey if you’re feeling brave enough!!!
